Immediately post-graduation, Shane Astani began his real estate career at Merrill Lynch Commercial Real Estate in Beverly Hills, specializing in land acquisitions, entitlements, planning and feasibility studies. In the early 1990’s, Shane focused more aggressively on brokerage of apartment buildings with banks and financial institutions for disposition of REOs, foreclosures and loan restructuring.
Shane Astani assisted in asset management groups to grow along with the brokerage pursuit to manage about 5,000 units in the local market and assist clients in financing of the existing portfolio with Fannie Mae and other long-term lenders.
In 2005 Shane Astani partnered with Steve Doctor with their focus on Government build to suit pursuits, as well as private sector build to suit and multi-family projects.
1986 to present – Shane Astani has been active in acquiring land for entitlements and planning apartment projects and commercial single tenant sites throughout the Los Angeles area. Major expertise in assemblage of large parcels, zone change, variances and conditional use permits, city council and planning commission contacts, complete “submarket” knowledge to design and deliver the best project for the area. Expanded into build to suit pursuits for the Federal Government with emphasis on the Healthcare sector.
